About Us

We are an independent practice founded by Hema Desai.

Hema grew up in Australia and completed a Bachelor in Health Sciences (Speech Pathology) at Charles Sturt University, Australia in 2001. She worked in various settings in Melbourne before moving to London in 2008 where she worked for the National Health Service and later at a specialist independent school for children with Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia).

Hema has completed the Level 5 Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia) and the Level 7 Diploma in Teaching and Assessing Learners with Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia). She is a qualified Sounds-Write practitioner and has also completed the Little Learners Love Literacy training. She founded Connect: Literacy, Speech and Language Services in 2011, which became a thriving clinic in South West London supporting children with dyslexia to achieve their potential.

In 2022, Hema returned to Australia and moved her practice to Ormond, Melbourne. She services students from the South-Eastern and Bayside suburbs.
